The Arg of Tabriz, also known as Arg-e Alishah, is a towering historical fortress located in the heart of Tabriz. Over the centuries, the Arg has served as a mosque, a military garrison, and a school. It has been damaged and rebuilt several times, each time reflecting the architectural styles of the era. Today, visitors can explore the remaining structure of the Arg, marveling at its scale and architectural details. The site is particularly impressive at night when it is illuminated. While access to the interior may be limited, the exterior provides ample opportunity for photography and contemplation. The surrounding area has been developed into a public space, offering a place to relax and enjoy the view of this historical landmark.
Transportation
The Arg of Tabriz is centrally located and easily accessible by public transportation. You can take the Tabriz Metro Line 1 and get off at the 'Sa'at Square' station, which is a short walk from the Arg. Several bus lines also serve the area, including those heading towards Imam Khomeini Street and Ferdowsi Street. Taxis are readily available as well.
